Winter
Horní Vltavice is home to the municipal ski area “Nad Kovárnou”. It has three ski lifts and includes a small snow park with natural and artificial obstacles.
In spring, the Teplá Vltava can be navigated by canoe from Borová Lada to Horní Vltavice along a 13 km section rated WW I–II. The section of the Teplá Vltava from Horní Vltavice to Lenora is also navigable during the summer months, is rated ZW C, and is 7 km long.

Nature and Trails
Tourist trails lead from Horní Vltavice to Boubínský prales. At Jilmová skála, periglacial weathering processes have shaped frost cliffs, tors, and rock walls. Jilmová skála can be accessed via a walkable tourist trail located more than 250 m from the road.
Culture
The Church of Our Lady, St. Joseph and St. John of Nepomuk in Horní Vltavice was created from 1724 onwards by converting an earlier chapel. The bridge over the Vltava in Horní Vltavice was declared a cultural monument of technology in 1987. The complex comprising the Schwarzenberg Navigation Canal, Kaplický Stream, and Vchynicko-Tetovský Canal is a national cultural monument.
Orientation
There is an information centre in Horní Vltavice. In the wider regional surroundings of Horní Vltavice, sections of the Schwarzenberg Navigation Canal have been reconstructed; demonstrations of timber rafting take place on these sections several times a year.
