Nature

Malý Polec is a raised bog below Churáňovský vrch at an elevation of 1,108 to 1,183 meters, located about 1 kilometer from Zadov. Since 1992, Malý Polec has been protected as a natural monument to safeguard endangered plants and animals. From Zadov, the area can be reached via a hiking trail toward Zlatá Studna.

Culture and History

The Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary was built between 1842 and 1849. The church contains a crystal chandelier commemorating Stachy's glassmaking heritage. The Baroque Chapel of Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows dates from 1808.

Most of the buildings in the Stachy heritage conservation reserve date from the 17th to the 19th century. In the eastern part of the municipality of Stachy is an ensemble of partly log-built Šumava-style houses designated as a reserve.

Museum

The Pošumavské Fire Museum in Stachy displays fire engines, fire pumps, uniforms, and historical firefighting technology and equipment on two floors. The exhibition on the history of Stachy also includes craft tools, historical objects, and items from Stachy and the surrounding area.

Trails and Townscape

Stašské Square is the starting point for numerous hiking trails. The lawn of the square by the church in Stachy contains a protected site for boletes.
