Jívová: Hotels and Accommodation

The protected area of Údolí Bystřice covers the cadastral territory of Jívová and has an area of 751 hectares. Údolí Bystřice contains preserved beech and scree forests, as well as rock formations, frost cliffs and block streams.

Nature and Landscape

The Skalice mountain is located in the vicinity of Jívová. The mountains of Stráž, Růžový Kopec and Slunečná are also located in the surrounding area.

A four-kilometre section of Údolí Bystřice that is attractive to tourists runs between the Jívová, Hrubá Voda and Smilov railway stops. The Tour de Wanzl route runs mostly along paved roads, features significant changes in elevation and is also suitable for trekking bikes.

Culture and History

The complex of the Church of St Bartholomew (“Kostel sv. Bartoloměje”) in Jívová is registered as an immovable cultural monument in the Central Register of Monuments of the Czech Republic. The Baroque church was built between 1717 and 1720. Its interior contains several paintings and, in particular, frescoes by the Olomouc Baroque painter Jan Kryštof Handke.

The church complex also includes a low rubble-stone wall around the former cemetery with two brick entrance gates, as well as a mortuary chapel with a hipped roof.

The Tepenec archaeological site comprises a Late Bronze Age hillfort with preserved remains of a rampart and ditch, as well as the remains of a medieval castle founded by Charles IV around 1340.
