Velká Bystřice: Hotels and Accommodation

The Velká Bystřice chateau complex comprises the chateau, the buildings of the brewery’s former malt house and the chateau park. The west wing of the chateau houses an exhibition of Haná folk costumes. It presents Haná and Blaťácké folk costumes, as well as items from private collections, the collection of the Haná folklore ensemble and the depot of the Vlastivědné muzeum v Olomouci.

Culture and History

The Church of the Beheading of Saint John the Baptist was first mentioned in 1283 and is a prominent landmark of Velká Bystřice. Visitors can also see the Husův sbor church in Velká Bystřice.

The international folklore festival “Lidový rok” takes place in Velká Bystřice and was founded in 1989. The festival presents traditional music, dances and crafts; it also welcomes ensembles from all over Europe. A newly built amphitheatre with a varied seasonal programme is located in the chateau park.

Galeriezet presents exhibitions by independent, prominent contemporary artists from the Czech Republic and abroad. The exhibitions feature, among other things, painting, drawing, graphic art, sculpture, photography and video art. Galeriezet also organises talks, concerts of classical, jazz and alternative music, as well as poetry readings.

Trails and Landscape

A yellow-marked hiking trail runs through Velká Bystřice. A green-marked hiking trail begins at the railway halt in Velká Bystřice. It leads through the valley of the Lošovský potok stream and past a water reservoir.
