In the Kouty resort in Loučná nad Desnou, located within the Jeseníky Protected Landscape Area, the Rysí skála educational trail runs through the Jeseníky Mountains on Medvědí hora. The route is 2 km long, passes through elevations of 1,080 to 1,163 m, and can be reached from the upper station of the cable car in Kouty nad Desnou.
Transport
Loučná nad Desnou railway station is part of the IDSOK integrated transport system and is located on line 291 between Zábřeh na Moravě and Kouty nad Desnou. There are also sections of the Petrov nad Desnou–Sobotín route.
Culture and History
In the center of Loučná nad Desnou stands a Renaissance residence that Přemek ze Žerotína had built in 1608 on the site of a wooden hunting lodge. The castle chapel was later expanded into a parish church dedicated to Saints Cyril and Methodius and contains Baroque frescoes by Ignác Raab. Near the castle, the mechanical flax mill developed into one of the most significant linen enterprises of the Habsburg monarchy; in 1873, it received an award at the World's Fair in Vienna.
Landscape
Přemek III. ze Žerotína established the castle park toward the end of the 17th century as an ornamental flower garden beside an orchard at the castle. The park includes the Neptun pond and a grotto, over whose stone arches water from the pond flows down as a waterfall.
Leisure
The Tančírna sports and recreation complex in Loučná nad Desnou has a large, themed children's playground. It includes the wooden ship Pinta, Stockholm Castle with climbing elements and a slide, a zip line, swings, and a watercourse. The complex also includes a skate park, a workout area, a parkour area, and several recreational areas.
At Kocián pond, visitors can purchase a day fishing permit, rent fishing equipment at the Tančírna café, and receive advice there from experienced local anglers. In the Kouty resort, bicycles can also be transported by a six-seat cable car; the cable car is considered the fastest in the Czech Republic.
