The Čerňavina Nature Reserve encompasses natural Carpathian-type beech stands in the highlands of the Moravian-Silesian Beskids, interspersed with spruce, sycamore maple and fir. It lies on the summit and steep slopes of Ostrý, which reaches 1,044.4 m above sea level, on the Ropická Ridge.

The Turistická chata na Ostrém has stood at its current location in Košařiska since 1935. It was built on a former cattle salaš on the southwestern slope of Ostrý, in the “Na Ostrým” district. Several typical Beskid wooden houses have been preserved in Košařiska.

The “Po stopách salašnictví v Košařiskách” educational trail was created in 2012 for tourists and residents.

Traditions

Every May, a reenactment of the “Miyszani łowiec” custom takes place in Košařiska. The May event includes a craft market, performances by folk bands, as well as food and drinks. In September, the traditional “Rozsod” custom is observed, during which sheep and other livestock were driven from the mountain sheep farms to the village and redistributed to their owners.

As part of the historical pastoral economy, bryndza was made from particularly fatty milk at the end of summer and sold in the towns. In the wider regional area around Košařiska lies Kończyce Małe Castle – Zamek XV w.
