In February 1897, the first ski race in the Orlické Mountains took place in Sedloňov. The town’s history includes the Baroque Church of All Saints, completed in 1711 on the site of a wooden church dating from 1578, as well as the protected cultural monument complex consisting of the Church of All Saints and the rectory.
Winter and Culture
The monument on Vrchmezí commemorates former visits by Emperor Joseph II, John Quincy Adams and Fryderyk Chopin. In the hamlet of Polom, the Skutina artillery fortress houses an exhibition on military fortifications from the interwar period; visitors can descend up to 36 m into the site.
Marked hiking trails lead to Sedloňovský Černý kříž, a large wooden cross on the mountain ridge.
Nature
Part of the Sedloňov municipal area lies within the Orlické Mountains Protected Landscape Area. The Sedloňovský vrch Nature Reserve is located in the cadastral area of Sedloňov and is freely accessible to visitors, except for fenced-off areas.
The Sedloňovská lípa, a protected tree estimated to be around 500 years old, stands in the town centre. In spring, the spring snowflake blooms in the Sedloňovský vrch Nature Reserve. The European globeflower grows in the protected Ošerov natural locality.
Propadliště is a protected locality encompassing the floodplain of the Zlatý potok watercourse. Polomské louky is a flower-rich semi-natural meadow in the valley of the Polomský potok.
Trails and Special Places
Dozens of kilometres of marked hiking trails run through the area around Sedloňov; some are also suitable for cycling. The extensive Alpine garden belonging to the Grulich family in the lower part of Sedloňov, in the V depu location, can be visited by prior arrangement.
