Culture and Local History
The Church of St. James the Greater was built between 1715 and 1718 and has a Baroque altar dating from the 18th century. Panský dům is a historic building dating from 1806. Skuhrov nad Bělou is also home to a statue of Saint Wenceslas from the first half of the 19th century.
The Skuhrov castle ruins include an 11-metre-high observation tower and an open-air amphitheatre. The local Porkert company was converted into a grey iron foundry and later modernised.
The ironmaking exhibition is located in the Skuhrov municipal office building and contains a collection of products made by the J. Porkert company from Skuhrov nad Bělou. It can be visited on the working days of the Skuhrov nad Bělou municipal office and tourist information centre.
Nature and Trails
The Vápenka Skuhrov educational trail is named after a local water reservoir from the early 20th century and features information boards about the history of Vápenka. It begins in the centre of Skuhrov nad Bělou and follows a forest path to Skuhrov Castle.
The Rybářská česko-finská educational trail is lined with information boards about the local flora and fauna and is approximately 1.5 kilometres long. The Skuhrovská lípa is one of the Czech Republic’s memorial trees.
Proměny dřeva is an annual symposium on chainsaw wood carving held in Skuhrov nad Bělou during the first days of July.
