Stará Myjava: Accommodation for Winter Sports and Nature

Skiland Stará Myjava is a ski resort in the White Carpathians. The gentle slope at Skiland Stará Myjava is suitable for beginners and intermediate skiers. Winter Sports

The winter activities also include the 12.6-kilometre Novolhotsko–staromyjavský cross-country ski trail. It runs through Stará Myjava and is connected to the Czech Republic. The cross-country ski trail therefore has its own characteristics alongside the ski resort, without the two offerings being equated.

Nature

Part of the cadastral territory of Stará Myjava lies within the White Carpathians Protected Landscape Area. The protected area of the Myjava River, which is designated as a natural monument, also includes the cadastral territory of Stará Myjava. The Stará Myjava reservoir was built on the Myjava River within the cadastral territory of the municipality. It is used for swimming, boating, sunbathing and fishing.

At the Stará Myjava reservoir, a forestry educational trail features nine information panels. In the Slovak-Moravian border region, there is also an educational trail with nine information stations about the natural treasures, fauna and flora of the Myjava Hills and the White Carpathians Protected Landscape Area. The longest educational trail in this Slovak-Moravian border region is 18.298 kilometres long and runs along existing field and forest paths.

Cycling Routes

The Staromyjavská Greenway is a 15.3-kilometre blue-marked cycling route rated “Recreation” in difficulty. It connects Myjava, Brestovec, Kadlecovci and Stará Myjava and leads to the Stará Myjava reservoir.

The Krivosudy cycling route leads to the SNP monument and restored partisan bunkers from the Second World War. It then runs through the forest above Skiland Stará Myjava. In Stará Myjava, there are restored underground partisan bunkers commemorating the founding of the II Stalin Partisan Brigade and the 1944 Slovak National Uprising.

Culture

The cultural event “Vítanie jari” and the event “Degustácia páleného” are scheduled to take place in Stará Myjava in April. “Degustácia páleného” is a tasting of distilled spirits.
