The Roháče–Spálená ski resort is located in a mountain valley below Salatímni in Tatra National Park and is about 10 km from Zuberec.

Mountain trails and views

The Rozhľadňa Machy lookout tower stands on the 1,202-metre-high Machy mountain above Zuberec. From there, views extend over the Western Tatras, the Skorušinské vrchy mountains and the municipality of Zuberec. The official Machy hiking route starts and ends in Zuberec. It is classified as an easy tour, is expected to take three hours and has an elevation gain of 440 metres.

Nature

Brestovská jaskyňa cave is located in the cadastral territory of Zuberec and is designated as a national natural monument. It is also the first cave in Orava and the Western Tatras to have been made accessible to visitors.

Culture

The Múzeum oravskej dediny presents more than 50 buildings of folk architecture. The buildings are arranged in ensembles representing different parts of the Orava region. The Múzeum oravskej dediny includes, among other things, a water-powered mill, a mangeľ for smoothing blue-print fabric, an oil mill and a potter’s kiln. Through furnished houses, traditional crops and kept domestic animals, the museum conveys an impression of the former life and work of the inhabitants of Orava.

At Remeslá na dedine, demonstrations of pottery, wood carving, wire art, woodturning and the production of beeswax candles are offered every Sunday from 11:00 to 16:00 during the summer holidays.

The Podroháčske folklórne slávnosti take place every year on the first weekend in August in Brestová near Zuberec. They are designed as a three-day international folklore festival.

Travelling between the places

A ride on the Roháčsky turistický vláčik tourist train takes you from Habovka via Zuberec, past Brestovská jaskyňa cave and the Múzeum oravskej dediny, all the way to Zverovka.

When comparing accommodation offers for a skiing holiday in Zuberec, check the exact location, type of accommodation and occupancy on the relevant offer page. Also pay attention to which services are included and how the individual price components are composed. The booking and cancellation conditions should likewise be clearly stated. Compare these fields directly with one another before booking. This keeps the decision based on the specifically published terms and conditions rather than on assumptions about an individual offer. The information on the relevant offer page is decisive, not a blanket expectation of every accommodation. It is also worth checking the travel period for which the displayed price applies and whether the stated occupancy matches the actual number of people planned. If several variants of the same accommodation are listed, consider the respective room or apartment name, total price and included services separately. Also check whether fees, a deposit or other price components are expressly stated and whether the conditions apply to the selected variant. The key point is that all relevant terms and conditions can be clearly understood together on the same offer page.
