Accommodation in Sutovo: Šútovský Waterfall and the Malá Fatra Nature

A blue-marked hiking trail leads from Šútovo to Šútovský Waterfall. The waterfall lies at an altitude of 830 meters in the Krivánska Malá Fatra, about four kilometers north of Šútovo. At 38 meters high, it is the tallest waterfall in the Malá Fatra.

Nature

Another natural site is formed by the Mojžišove Springs. The springs emerge at an altitude of 1,140 meters from a rock wall on the eastern slope of the southern peak of Steny in the Krivánska Fatra. Their water feeds the Šútovský Stream and Šútovský Waterfall. From Šútovo, the springs can be reached through the Šútovská Valley and past Šútovský Waterfall. The route therefore connects the village, the valley, the waterfall, and the springs at higher elevation.

Along the Way

The summer version of the Šútovská Valley nature trail is almost nine kilometers long. From Šútovský Waterfall, it continues through steeper mountain terrain to the Mojžišove Springs and Chata pod Chlebom. There are six information boards along the nature trail. On the way to Šútovský Waterfall, visitors can stop at Chata Vodopád for food and drinks. The route described therefore includes both access to the waterfall and the continuation through steeper terrain to the springs and the mountain hut.

Landscape

The protected landscape includes the Šútovská Epigenesis. It covers 52.19 hectares, is protected under the fourth level of protection, and forms part of Malá Fatra National Park. At the same time, the Šútovská Epigenesis is a natural monument at the confluence of the Váh and the Šútovský Stream. The natural monument lies in the cadastral areas of Ratkovo and Šútovo in Martin District. A path leads from the local football field in Šútovo to the summit of the Šútovská Epigenesis.

Culture

The local history also points to craft activities: Šútovo had mills and smithies, and basket weaving was also well developed.
