Pliesovce is located in the southern part of the Pliešovská kotlina Basin. The municipality of Pliesovce comprises the cadastral areas of Pliesovce and Zaježová. At the eastern edge of Pliesovce, the ridge of the extinct Javorie volcano forms the boundary of the municipality. At 1,023.4 metres, Priečno is the highest point in the cadastral area of Pliesovce.
Nature and Education
In Zaježová, the Náučný studničkový chodník educational trail connects seven of ten restored springs. Zaježová is also home to Ekokomunita Sekier, a traditional farmstead. It is inspired by the ecovillage movement, natural building and permaculture. The Zaježová Education Centre offers experiential stays for schools.
Culture and History
The Protestant church in Pliešovce was built and consecrated in 1927. It has an unusual elliptical floor plan. A Bronze Age axe and a fragment of a bronze rosette brooch were found in Rimáň in 1909.
Events
The programme of Saint Hubert's Day 2025 in Pliešovce included falconry demonstrations and a wild-game goulash cooking competition. In 2025, the event marked its 20-year tradition. A sightseeing ride in a horse-drawn carriage was part of the programme at the Podjavorské Folklore Festivities.
