Geographical location
Kłodzko lies in the centre of the Kłodzko Valley on the Eastern Neisse (Nysa Kłodzka). The Kłodzko Basin is located in the Sudetes and in eastern Lower Silesia, near the Czech Republic; its elevation is approximately 350 to 450 metres above sea level. The basin is enclosed or bordered by the Sudetes ranges of the Bardzkie, Stołowe, Bystrzyckie and Złote Mountains, as well as the Śnieżnik Massif.
History and townscape
Kłodzko was founded as a settlement in the 10th century and received town rights in 1233. The historic townscape includes the Old Town, historic townhouses, Kłodzko Fortress, a Gothic bridge and historic churches. Kłodzko Fortress is a significant local fortification complex; there is also an underground tourist route.
Kłodzko’s historic, multicultural and borderland character is reflected in its architecture and fortifications. The Kłodzko City Museum is located in the town and preserves artefacts relating to Kłodzko’s history.

The area around Kłodzko is home to the Muzeum Ziemi Klodzkiej, Żelazno - Zamek, Twierdza Klodzko, Gorzanów - Pałac, Orlik, Kamiennik, Ślepowron and Kamienna Góra.
Nature and activities
Nearby, Gorzuchów Beach features a bathing lake, a sandy beach and water equipment rental. The Bystrzyckie and Orlickie Mountains in the surrounding area offer hiking trails, including routes on Jagodna, through the Wild Orlice Valley and towards Orlica. MTB routes also run there through forests, over hills and through valleys.
Railway line 276 connects the Kłodzko region with Wrocław and continues to the national border.
