Around San Vito di Cadore, green meadows alternate with dense forests of conifers and beech trees. The area around Lago di Mosigo is a high-quality natural habitat with many wild animal species. The area around Lago di Mosigo is also visited by migratory birds passing through.
Lago di Mosigo can be reached from the centre of San Vito in ten minutes on foot via the footpath along Via Sentinella. At Lago di Mosigo, there is an equipped area with wooden play equipment, plastic structures, a small cable railway, tables, benches and two fire pits for barbecuing.

Winter among slopes and children's activities
The San Vito ski area offers 20 km of slopes for all levels of difficulty and lies at the foot of Monte Antelao. Large car parks and a free on-demand ski bus are available for access to the facilities of the San Vito ski area. The free on-demand ski bus operates within the municipality of San Vito for residents and tourists, including non-skiers.
Parco NeveSole has a ski school area with two conveyor belts for learning to ski or snowboard. Parco NeveSole also has an amusement park for sledging and riding on inner tubes.
At the children's centre in Parco NeveSole, children's activities are organised indoors and outdoors. These include workshops using salt dough, wood, paper and fabrics, group games and theatre.
Cycling on the routes around San Vito
The Cortina–San Vito cycle route follows the former railway line and passes through forests, open areas and alpine villages. The Cortina–San Vito cycle route is easy and runs entirely along a paved cycle path.
On the Calalzo–Cortina cycle route, the section between San Vito di Cadore and Cortina d’Ampezzo partly follows the Antica Strada Regia.
Walking trails
The Antica Strada Regia route begins in the centre of San Vito, on the square behind the parish church. Its starting point is therefore in the town centre.
In summer, you can reach Rifugio San Marco from San Vito di Cadore by leaving your car at Baita Sunbar and continuing on foot along the forest road that begins behind Baita Sunbar on the right-hand orographic side of the Ru Secco. The walking time is approximately two hours.
The starting points are different: the Antica Strada Regia begins in the centre, while the approximately two-hour walk to Rifugio San Marco begins on the forest road behind Baita Sunbar.
Art in the Chiesa della Madonna della Difesa
The main altar of the Chiesa della Madonna della Difesa bears a triptych attributed to Francesco Vecellio.
