Culture and history in St. Pankraz
The St. Pankraz parish organizes church services, religious celebrations and various events for all age groups. The parish church of St. Pankraz stands on the site of the oldest church in the Ulten Valley. Remains of the old nave walls are still preserved.

Further historical sites can be found around St. Pankraz: The Chapel of St. Sebastian was built in memory of the victims of the plague and has a Baroque altar inside. The little Church of St. Helena stands on a small wooded hill above St. Pankraz and dates back to the 14th century. Just before St. Pankraz, the ruins of Eschenlohe Castle stand on a wooded hilltop at the confluence of the Hagenbach and Falschauer rivers.
The Häusl am Stein also tells part of the landscape's history. It survived the 1882 flood because it had been built on a huge boulder. The traditional market takes place every year in October in the village center. The market is scheduled for Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 08:00 to 14:00.
Hiking trails connected to culture and nature
The St. Pankraz Mill Trail is an easy circular route of around 5 kilometers from the village center and takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes. The approximately five kilometers and the stated walking time provide a clear timeframe for the circuit. The trail passes the remains of the Stegmühle and Aichermühle mills, as well as centuries-old millstones near the Linserhof.
The St. Pankraz Nature Trail is a cultural and nature hike of around 6.3 kilometers along narrow forest paths and gentle meadow trails. The nature trail runs across the slopes and ends below Eschenlohe Castle. Along the route, 16 interactive information boards provide information about the local flora, native wildlife and the geology of the valley.
The mountain tour to the Hochjoch is an easy hike without any technical difficulties. The hike to the Mariolberg Alpine Pasture begins above St. Pankraz near St. Helena and follows hiking trails no. 5 and no. 9.
Mariolberg Alpine Pasture and Falschauer Gorge
At the Mariolberg Alpine Pasture, visitors are served traditional alpine dishes and dairy products made there, such as cheese and yogurt. The Mariolberg Alpine Pasture is very easy to reach by bicycle via the forest road. The St. Pankraz Timber Floaters' Trail is a circular route of around 3.8 kilometers from the historic village center along the Falschauer Gorge.
The Pankraz Reservoir lies about 2.5 kilometers above St. Pankraz at an elevation of 809 meters. It is the lowest-lying and second-largest reservoir in the valley.
