Adventure Trail and Sporting Activities
The Haflinger Adventure Trail is a nature education trail with 12 stations. It leads from the village of Avelengo to Santa Caterina and is dedicated to the Haflinger horse. The start in the village of Avelengo and the destination of Santa Caterina mark the two local reference points of the trail. This means you can note the route as a day plan between two places; the stations structure its course.

On the sunny high plateau between Avelengo, Verano and Merano 2000, there are three signposted mountain bike downhill routes of varying difficulty with up to 2,000 m of elevation difference. The routes are downhill trails for mountain bikes. Difficulty and elevation difference are specific planning factors when choosing the respective descent. The Sulfner Riding Centre in Santa Caterina in Avelengo offers riding excursions. For your day planning, you can note the three descents and the riding excursions separately in advance.
Churches and Historic Places
The Church of St. Kathrein was consecrated in 1251. Its construction dates back to the second quarter of the 13th century. The church is part of the Alpine Road of Romanesque Art. Romanesque is a medieval art period. The parish church of Avelengo was first mentioned in documents in 1291 and is dedicated to John the Baptist.

Winter Activities and Getting There
In winter, the Merano 2000 ski area offers skiing, snowboarding and sledging. When skiing, you travel on skis; when snowboarding, on a snowboard; and when sledging, on a sled. The three activities therefore differ in the equipment used. For a winter day with different interests, you can plan the sports separately.
Bus route 225 connects Merano with Falzeben via the village of Avelengo. The Falzeben cable car runs from Falzeben/Avelengo to the mountain station of Merano 2000. A cable car is a means of transport whose vehicles hang from a cable while travelling. When planning your journey, you can consider the bus route and the cable car as separate connections.
