Culture and history in Piazzatorre
The history of the village includes the Church of San Giacomo in Piazzatorre. It was built in the 16th century and consecrated on 29 July 1514. The church also houses a nine-panel polyptych by Agostino Caversegno dating from 1537.
The Feast of Saint James, the patron saint of Piazzatorre, takes place on 25 July. Historically, during this feast, the parish priest would climb up to the alpine pastures and mountain farms together with the faithful to bless bread, salt and livestock.
