The Chiesetta di San Nicolò degli Alzeri was built in the 13th century next to accommodation for warrior monks and pilgrims on their way to the Holy Land. The church of San Nicolò degli Alzeri contains a fresco cycle from the 13th century. The parish church of Piano d’Arta, on the other hand, was built in 1781 in an unusual octagonal form. It was based on a design by the Tolmezzo architects Domenico and Angelo Schiavi. The different construction periods and forms provide several concrete starting points for a culture-focused visit to the area.

Mountains and Regional Specialties

The mountains of Monte Cucco and Monte Cuar are located in the immediate surroundings of Arta Terme.
