Culture and History

The historic center of Rechenberg combines a castle rock, the former castle grounds, half-timbered houses, and the preserved historic brewery complex. Following its restoration in 2002, the Saxon Brewery Museum was opened there.

The Saxon Brewery Museum in Rechenberg presents the brewery’s 450-year history. During a visit, a tour of the brewing facilities can be combined with a beer tasting in the vaulted cellars of the former malt house. The Flößerhaus Rechenberg-Bienenmühle was reconstructed as a museum after the 2002 flood.

The Clausnitz Local Heritage Museum presents life and work around 1880 and in the years that followed. Exhibits include hay and straw weaving, historic clothing, toys, musical instruments, and changing exhibitions. The permanent exhibition “Journey into the Past” uses guided tours through historic rooms to trace the everyday lives of earlier generations up to around 1880.

The Öko-Bad outdoor pool in Rechenberg-Bienenmühle has a 50-meter pool, a non-swimmer pool, and a children’s pool. The facility is wheelchair-accessible and includes a 600-square-meter sunbathing lawn. Trails

The Kammweg trail passes through Holzhau and Rechenberg-Bienenmühle and continues via the Saydaer Weg to Sayda. For a route between Freiberg and Holzhau, the Freiberg Railway can be used as a shuttle for the return journey to Freiberg.
