In winter, Sayda has approximately 45 kilometres of groomed cross-country ski trails as well as a drag lift on the Mortelgrund ski slope. The range of activities depends on the weather conditions. In addition, the Cäm3 Museum offers insights into skiing, technology and history across 800 square metres; its programme also includes weather-independent biathlon activities with sprinting and target shooting.

Paths and Landscape
Around Sayda, there are approximately 80 kilometres of well-signposted hiking trails. Several circular hikes are approximately 6 to 29 kilometres long and lead, among other places, through Mortelgrund, Kreuztanne and Seiffen, as well as towards the Rauschenbach and Fláje reservoirs. The Kammweg 07 meets the family-friendly Blockline cycling route. Further along, it passes Kreuztanne, the Obere Vorwerk, the Salzstraße and the Schwemmteiche before returning to Sayda.
The Sayda/Kreuztanne–Seiffen stage of the Erzgebirgstrail crosses the Ore Mountains/Vogtland Nature Park and offers expansive views over hills and valleys. The Aktivland Erzgebirge area covers approximately 220 square kilometres across six municipalities and promotes hiking, cycling, recreation and leisure activities amid a scenic natural landscape.
Culture and History
The Stadtkirche Zu unserer lieben Frauen is a late Gothic hall church with a 62-metre-high tower and a Jeheber organ. Interior visits are possible by prior arrangement.
The Spittel Museum presents and explains the working and living environment of the Ore Mountains in 17 rooms. Almost 5,000 objects can be viewed and touched there. The museum is housed in a building constructed in 1508, which is one of the oldest surviving buildings in the town.
The Fire Brigade Museum in Sayda opened in 1998 in the old fire station. Its exhibits include a hand-operated fire pump from the year the fire brigade was founded, 1873, which is considered the oldest exhibit, as well as a motorised fire pump from 1926, designated as the fire brigade's first.
The water tower is 25 metres high and was built in 1893/94. It is a technical monument and landmark of the town, but can currently only be viewed from the outside.
The Adam Road Construction Machinery Museum displays a fully reconstructed steamroller from 1925. It is described as unique in Saxony; all parts are original.
Further Insights
The Mittelmühle, a former grain and oil mill, stands in the Friedebach district. The production of Ore Mountains linseed oil can be demonstrated there by prior telephone arrangement.
