Dümpelfeld: Hotels and accommodations

The Hahnensteiner Mill in Dümpelfeld was first mentioned in 1556 and was at that time the most important of the 15 mills in the Electoral Cologne district of Nürburg. The present mill building was constructed in 1729. By prior appointment, the mill, which is still in operation, can be visited; a guided tour lasting approximately half an hour explains the production process from grain to flour.

Culture

The village church of St. Cyriacus stands on a hill above the village, where the Adenauer Bachtal valley merges into the upper Ahr Valley. Its core structure probably dates from the 13th century. In the second half of the 15th century, the church was altered by the addition of a vaulted ceiling and a single-bay choir. It is an example of the group of village churches typical of the Hocheifel and Moselle Valley. The German Foundation for Monument Protection was involved in restoration work on the exterior, interior, and high altar from 1998 to 2003.

The ruins of Neu Blankenheim are located in the area surrounding Dümpelfeld. Schloss Bürresheim, the ruins of Dollendorf, and the Southeastern Tower are located in the wider regional area.

Nature

The Hohe Warte is located in the immediate vicinity of Dümpelfeld. Schöneberg, Saberg, and Perlerkopf are situated in the surrounding area. The Gänsehalsturm is located in the wider regional area.

The summit of Teufelsley offers panoramic views of the Eifel mountains. The Teufelsley natural monument can be reached by car and then via a short walk along the Karl-Kaufmann-Weg hiking trail.

Paths and tours

The difficult 67-kilometre Vulkan-Rad-Route Eifel begins in Dümpelfeld and leads via Adenau, Nürburg, and Ulmen to Bad Bertrich. It has a long initial climb and is not paved throughout.

In Dümpelfeld, the Vulkan-Rad-Route meets the Ahr Cycle Route, making the village a rest stop on the regional cycling network. The AhrSteig offers views of Dümpelfeld and its Gothic parish church of St. Cyriacus in the Ahr Valley.
