Geographical classification
The Ahrweiler district is considered hilly and heavily forested. Herschbroich is therefore located in a regional setting shaped by the Upper Eifel and its proximity to the Nürburgring.
Cycling
After Herschbroich, the Vulkan-Rad-Route Eifel cycle route crosses the L92 and continues along a paved agricultural road towards Quiddelbach. Within Herschbroich, it also runs partly along the K21.
Further along, the route runs from Dümpelfeld on the Ahr via the Nürburgring and Ulmen to Bad Bertrich. Along the way, it passes through the Hocheifel-Nürburgring and GesundLand Vulkaneifel holiday regions.
The Vulkan-Rad-Route Eifel cycle route is not paved throughout and is therefore unsuitable for road bikes.
Culture
The Alte Burg in Herschbroich is considered a Celtic site; it was probably used as a refuge fort. No visible traces remain at the Alte Burg. At the same time, it is connected with the prehistoric fortified sites of the Ahrweiler district.
The historical surroundings of the Ahrweiler district include ring walls and cross-ridge ramparts dating from the pre-Roman Iron Age.
Hiking
A circular hike from Adenau passes the Nürburgring sections Kesselchen, Karussell, and Schwalbenschwanz before returning via Herschbroich.
