Silbersee and the history of the landscape
Silbersee covers 8.2 hectares and is 14 metres deep at its deepest point. It was created by open-cast lignite mining in the 1980s and subsequently flooded with groundwater. Its origins link the lake as it is today with Frielendorf’s mining history. The small Silbersee-Bob amusement park is located right on the shore.
Silbersee-Bob features a bobsled run, boat hire, a playground, petting animals, a quad-bike track, a Nautic Jet and a play beach. Individual activities may vary; check which options are currently available for your visit before making plans.
Water and leisure facilities

The Himmelfahrtsmarkt also brings together local history and present-day entertainment. Its tradition has continued uninterrupted since Landgrave Karl granted it a market privilege in 1694.
