At the communal brewery in Mitterteich, every citizen has the right to brew beer. The history of brewing also includes the new brewery: it was built in 1864 in what is now the Vorstadt district, formerly known as Gänsewiese. Mitterteich outdoor swimming pool is a leisure facility with heated pools. The swimming pool has 50-metre lanes. There is also a diving pool with 1-, 3- and 5-metre boards, as well as a non-swimmers’ pool with a 41-metre water slide. The pool’s swimming and diving areas can therefore be distinguished by their specific features.
At the Fit & Fun Park, you’ll find a BMX pump track, a children’s playground with play equipment, a table tennis table, a streetball court, a skating area and a grass football pitch. Cycling trail and the park’s origins
The Fit & Fun Park connects to the cross-border Wallenstein cycling trail along the former railway line. The park and the cycling route are also linked by their history: the park’s open space and the cycling trail connection along the railway line were created when the disused Wiesau–Waldsassen railway line was dismantled and Federal Highway 15 was rerouted. This site therefore brings together a leisure area and access to the cycling trail, helping you find your way around Mitterteich.
Culture and landscape in the wider destination of Tirschenreuth
Tirschenreuth also offers its own points of interest for culture lovers. At the MuseumsQuartier in Tirschenreuth, the Upper Palatinate Fisheries Museum brings together six other specialist exhibitions in a former monastery. Visitors can explore almost 1,000 years of fishing and fish-farming history and see local fish in four large aquariums. At the centre of Fischhofpark in Tirschenreuth are the historic Fischhof Bridge and Fischhof, the district court. The park, bridge and district court are thus distinct named features of the townscape. The regional cuisine has a different geographical focus: the district of Tirschenreuth is best known for Zoigl, the cult beer of the Upper Palatinate Forest, and for carp from the pond landscapes of the “Land of 1,000 Ponds.” These regional associations relate to Tirschenreuth, not to the individual attractions in Mitterteich.
