Rottal-Inn between thermal waters and cultural heritage
Accommodation in Rottal-Inn
Rottal-Inn offers a variety of ways to shape your stay: thermal waters, theatre, Gothic architecture, and opportunities for cycling and hiking. When planning your trip, it is worth first deciding which activities matter most to you. The available options offer practical guidance—from a visit to the thermal spa, stage performances and interpretation of historic monuments to outdoor trails and insights into agriculture.

Thermal waters at Rottal Terme
Rottal Terme has more than 30 pleasantly warm thermal-water pools with temperatures ranging from 26 to 40 °C, as well as 13 different saunas and steam baths. The spa also includes a 105-metre-long thermal stream and health, prevention and wellness services. If your stay is centred on the thermal spa, the pools, temperature range and saunas provide concrete points of reference for identifying what interests you. As these figures may change due to renovations, check the latest information before your visit.
Theatre and Gothic monuments
Theatre an der Rott is a cultural focal point. Each year, it presents premieres in the categories of drama, musicals, concerts, dance, operetta and opera; individual productions change. The programme therefore ranges from drama to musical forms of theatre. If a particular genre is a deciding factor for your trip, check the schedule in advance to see what is on during your visit. One distinctive feature of the institution: Theatre an der Rott is the only theatre in Germany owned by a district.
The “Gothic Tours” introduce locals and tourists to selected Gothic monuments. Brochures, maps, the tour portal and the Gothic portal are available for this purpose. The Gothic portal also offers audio guides about Gothic buildings that can be accessed on site, as well as an online museum with information, knowledge and learning resources. This gives you different ways to explore the subject and consider the Gothic Tours as a cultural element of your trip.
Cycling, hiking and nature
The Rottal-Inn leisure region has a well-developed, extensive network of trails, with several hundred kilometres for hikers and cyclists. For individual route planning, the tour portal provides information on elevation profiles and trail conditions, as well as GPX downloads. This information offers different points of reference to help you choose a route based on the features that matter to you.
One specifically named cycling route is the Inn Cycle Path. It runs through the Lower Inn European Reserve and offers insights into the flora and fauna of the Rottal-Inn leisure region. This makes the cycle path a distinct way to experience nature alongside the broader range of options for hikers and cyclists. If you are planning your trip around outdoor activities, you can choose from these different points of reference.
Rural life and regional cuisine
The Rottal Farm Tour is an activity programme centred on rural life, everyday working life, wildlife, farming culture, traditional crafts and handicraft techniques. Regional “Schmankerl” cuisine is another of its themes. The activities raise consumer awareness of fairly produced regional products, showcase local food production and highlight the importance of agriculture to the local cultural landscape.
The Farm Tour therefore offers a different thematic perspective from thermal spas, theatre or monuments: it brings together production and agriculture with crafts, everyday life and regional cuisine.
