Culture and history
In the centre of Prien stands the parish church of the Assumption of Mary. Trautersdorf, now a district of Prien, is documented as a settlement dating from the Early Middle Ages. Prien was founded around the middle of the 12th century, approximately in 1158, as the administrative centre of the Counts of Falkenstein. Prien was also a parish of the Diocese of Chiemsee.
