Hiking and nature trails

The walking routes differ in their profiles. Beer Trail Tour 3 leads from Rettenberg to Alpe Kalkhöf and is described as a tour for experienced hikers. The stated figures are around 3 hours and 15 minutes of walking time, approximately 8.6 kilometres and 500 metres of elevation gain. These approximate figures help you assess the time required and the elevation difference along the route. Another option is the “Abenteuer Galetschbach” adventure trail: this circular route, around 2.6 kilometres long, follows the Galetschbach stream. The entire route is barrier-free and easy to navigate with a wheelchair or pushchair. This means you can choose between a tour described as being for experienced hikers, with 500 metres of elevation gain, and a shorter circular route explicitly described as barrier-free.

Brewing tradition and beer trails

Rettenberg is home to Allgäu brewing tradition, with Bernardibräu, Engelbräu and Privatbrauerei Zötler based there. On a brewery tour, you can learn more about the brewing process and the history of brewing; afterwards, you can sample a freshly brewed beer. The five beer trails pass through meadows and forests, by viewpoints and places to stop for refreshments. Along the routes, innkeepers, alpine businesses and mountain huts offer ProBiererle: a local speciality paired with a Rettenberg beer selected to complement it. Kässpatzen evenings and other culinary events, including beer-and-cheese evenings, are also held regularly in Rettenberg. Leisure activities at the village café and the Grünten

There is a miniature golf course in the Kurgärtle next to the village café. The family pool at the Grünten is right next to the village café and has a large sunbathing lawn as well as natural shade. Both activities are therefore in the area around the village café: miniature golf is in the Kurgärtle, and the pool is right next to the café. The family pool’s opening schedule may vary seasonally; take this into account when planning your visit.
