The Catholic parish church of St. Margaretha is located at Kirchplatz 1. After a fire, it was rebuilt between 1836 and 1838 by Karl von Montigny as a Neo-Gothic hall church with stepped side aisles. The ensemble designation extends beyond the description of an individual building: it encompasses the Market Square and Church Square, together with the surrounding buildings. Swimming, Views and Activity
The solar-heated Schönberg Adventure Pool features an 84-meter-long water slide, an adventure pool and a children’s pool. These details clearly distinguish the different facilities: a long slide and two differently named pools. The 30-meter-high observation tower on Kadernberg offers a different kind of attraction. It was inaugurated in 1975, and more than 120 steps lead to its covered viewing platform. The tower’s height and step count provide two specific points of reference.
The fitalPARC Schönberg is a fitness trail with equipment for training coordination and strength. South of Schönberg, the small Reinsberger Park lies on a hill. Its features include a pavilion, a fountain and a playground. In Freyung stands the Schramlhaus, built around 1700. It is now the oldest farmhouse in Freyung and, in terms of its original condition, one of the oldest in Freyung-Grafenau district. The building houses the Wolfstein Local History Museum, as well as more than a hundred original, well-preserved examples of reverse glass painting, which is considered sacred folk art. This provides a tangible link to the region’s culture through a specific building and a named collection.
