Trails and Activities
The Albertville–Annecy cycle route runs through the Parc des berges de la Chaise. The park grounds are also home to the Centre Equestre d’Ugine, at the foot of Mont Charvin. The easy trail in the Parc des berges de la Chaise has wide paths with gentle gradients and is 1.9 kilometres long. The Centre Equestre d’Ugine offers a variety of activities year-round, from baby pony rides to competitive sports.
The Albertville–Faverges cycle route follows the track of a former railway line, is 25 kilometres long and presents no technical difficulties. La Belle Via initially follows the route of the former Annecy steam railway line before continuing towards Ugine and the Pays d’Albertville.
Culture and History
The Crest Cherel Museum is housed in a fortified building restored by the town of Ugine in 1984. It displays more than 1,500 objects collected, restored and exhibited by museum volunteers. The museum provides an English-language visitor brochure at the reception desk.
The Centre d’art et de Rencontres d’Ugine presents contemporary artistic expressions for the residents of Ugine and the wider region’s public. Individual guided tours are also offered there. The former church of Les Fontaines is considered an important part of Ugine’s cultural heritage.
Local Traditions
The Fête des Montagnes features traditional crafts, handicrafts, local products, folklore, livestock, a traditional meal and a livestock procession.
