Beaufort brings its history to life at several specific sites. The Château des Randens dates back to the 15th century. It was the residence of castellans entrusted with administering the Duchy of Savoy and was restored in the 19th century.
Culture
In Beaufort’s old quarter of the towers, circular towers are still preserved that former citizens built to house spiral staircases. The Church of Saint-Maxime is a Baroque church in Beaufort’s oldest quarter, Le Châtelard.
The “Beaufort au fil du temps” tour provides an opportunity to discover the area’s heritage and includes 18 information panels. It begins at the fountain on Avenue du Capitaine Bulle, opposite the tourist office, and can be visited free of charge year-round and independently, without a guide. A guided discovery tour of Beaufort explores its architecture, agriculture, local way of life, the beginnings of tourism, and Baroque art.

Nature
The hiking network in the municipality of Beaufort comprises hundreds of kilometres of paths between villages and hamlets, as well as through forests, valleys, and high-alpine landscapes. This includes the Tour du Beaufortain.
In the Beaufortain, more than 500 kilometres of marked trails are available during the warmer months. The massif, known as “montagne à vaches”, offers broad meadows.
