Hiking
The Risoul Rando Park comprises 13 themed hiking trails, where visitors can discover landscapes, fauna, flora and exceptional cultural heritage. These include forest tracks, shaded paths, challenging routes and family trails; the viewpoints can be reached by chairlift or via hiking trails.
Getting There
The nearest train station is Mont-Dauphin Guillestre, 17 kilometres away; a daily bus service runs to Risoul 1850.
Culture and Nature
The Sentier Historique partly follows the old road between Risoul Village and Risoul 1850, which was formerly used by residents, farmers and shepherds to reach the alpine pastures. The trail can be walked in both directions between Risoul Village and Risoul 1850; the route can also be completed without retracing your steps by using the summer shuttle. It passes through larch forests, alpine pastures and clearings, and offers alpine huts as well as views over the Durance Valley.
The Sainte-Lucie Church was built at the beginning of the 16th century in the Romanesque-Lombard style on the foundations of an older chapel. Three scallop shells on it are considered a symbol identifying pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela; an earlier Way of St James ran along the Durance.
The natural hot springs of Plan de Phazy are located at an altitude of 900 metres and extend across the municipalities of Risoul and Guillestre; they are a major excursion destination during a stay in Risoul. La Pomme de Risoul is a medium-sized apple variety with a tart, highly aromatic flavour, known for its excellent storage properties.
Leisure
