Saint Lary: Hotels and accommodations

Access to the ascent of Pic de la Calabasse leads from the village of St-Lary via the D57 and D157 to the parking area at the end of the road. The route offers views of the high peaks of Ariège, Haute-Garonne and Hautes-Pyrénées and crosses various ecosystems of the Pyrenees.

Nature

The Sentier de découverte de Haute Bellongue is a marked hiking trail with an elevation gain of 390 metres and an average round-trip hiking time of four hours.

The route to the Col de Piejau via the hamlets of Saint-Lary is a challenging circular hike through pastures and the state-owned beech forest of Couhos to a forest hut. A pilgrimage route leads from Saint-Lary to the Col de la Hourque, via Escarchein and onward to Portet.

The peaks of Sommet de Cournudère, Tuc de Tucol, Cap de Mourens and Cap des Teches are located in the immediate vicinity of Saint-Lary.

The Calabasstrail, held on the last weekend of September, offers two races and a hike.

Culture and history

The Église Saint-Hilaire stands at the intersection with the road to Col de Portet d’Aspet. Its interior is completely decorated with ornamental paintings.

The Monument aux morts de Saint-Lary was inaugurated on 1 November 1920. In 2005, it was relocated and renovated. The Saint-Lary spring fair takes place every first weekend of May and features stalls run by local craftspeople.
