Nature
Bois-d'Amont is located in an ancient glacial valley between Lac des Rousses in France and Lac de Joux in Switzerland. The Forêt du Risoux lies north of Lac des Rousses between Bois-d'Amont, Les Rousses, and Bellefontaine and extends into neighboring Switzerland. Numerous marked trails for hiking and mountain biking cross the Forêt du Risoux.

Trails
The “L’Orbe et le mur frontière” route begins at the Office de Tourisme de Bois-d'Amont. The 4.2-kilometer, very easy hiking route leads to the Swiss border, marked by a boundary stone and a border wall, and features interpretation stations.
Two connections from Bois-d'Amont can be used both with cross-country skis and snowshoes and provide access to the Grande Traversée du Jura. On the “Les Marais” route, cross-country skiers follow the river and pass the Les Marmousets recreational area below.
Winter activities
Les Marmousets offers a secured area for learning to ski through play, as well as a freely accessible toboggan run.
Culture
In the 19th century, Bois-d'Amont specialized in processing spruce wood for boissellerie and tabletterie. The Musée de la Boissellerie is housed in a restored former sawmill and conveys the identity of Bois-d'Amont associated with spruce and its tradition of woodworking.
The Association des Gardiens de la Boissellerie is committed to communicating the artisanal and cultural heritage of Bois-d'Amont. The immersive scenography “Rêves dans la maison de Madeleine” is based on accounts by residents of Bois-d'Amont. The Espace artisanal Bois d'Amont offers workshops for adults and children, a shop, and temporary exhibitions.
