The ruins of Château de l’Engelbourg are known as the “Witch’s Eye”. They can be reached on foot from Thann city centre in 30 minutes. There is also a digital experience about the history of Château de l’Engelbourg that combines virtual reality, augmented reality and mini-games for children and adults.

The Musée de la société d’histoire “Les Amis de Thann” is recognised as a “Musée de France”. The Musée des Amis de Thann houses collections on the history of Thann, Alsatian folk art, traditional crafts, viticulture and industrial history.

Viticulture and trails

The educational wine trail through the Rangen has 18 information boards and its own trail markings. It includes an easy 3 km family route and a more challenging 5 km route to the Croix du Rangen.

Thann is the starting point of the famous Alsace Wine Route. The Rangen vineyard covers 18.5 hectares and is classified as Grand Cru across its entire area. At the same time, Thann is home to the southernmost vineyard in Alsace.

History

The former Halle aux Blés in Thann dates from 1519 and houses a museum of art and local history. Every year on 30 June, Thann commemorates the legend of its foundation with the “Crémation des trois sapins”.
