The Chapelle de l'Archange-Mickaël is located in a hamlet in the middle of the forest of Breitenbach-Haut-Rhin. The former chapel, dedicated to the Archangel Michael, dates from the 18th century. A local legend is associated with the Chapelle de l'Archange-Mickaël: according to the legend, a bell ringer was struck by lightning on the summit of the Engelsberg; the chapel bell sank deep into the ground and was subsequently recovered by a villager and installed on the hamlet's religious building.
