Culture
The Retable de Buhl dates from the late 15th or early 16th century and has been classified as a historic monument since 1 March 1967. In the Saint-Jean-Baptiste parish church in Buhl, the altarpiece is the most important piece of furnishing.
The present-day Saint-Jean-Baptiste church in Buhl was built from 1868 to 1878. The fortified entrance tower of the former church has been preserved as part of it.
History and Trails
The ruins of Hugstein are accessible exclusively to hikers and walkers. The Sentier des châteaux forts n°2 hiking trail is 12 km long and begins at the Saint-Jean-Baptiste church in Buhl.
The Schwarzenbach quarry was opened in the 13th century. The still-visible Schwarzenbach quarry is located on the Saint-Gangolf Trail in Buhl. The Mühlsteingrube quarry on Quarry Trail in Buhl is also still visible. It dates from the 13th century and is located in the Schimberg forest. The rock from Mühlsteingrube was used to make millstones.
Buhl also has a fishing pond with a clubhouse.
