Nature

Culture and History

The Église Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption stands in the center of Fréland and was rebuilt several times over the centuries. It was rebuilt and consecrated in 1706; in the first half of the 19th century, it was built again.

The Chapelle Saint-Thiébaut was built in the neo-Gothic style in 1896 and stands on the Rocher du corbeau above the fields. Since 1986, it has housed a museum of religious art; it was restored in 1994. The Musée d'Arts Religieux is housed in this former Chapelle Saint-Thiébaut in Fréland.

The Musée d'Arts Religieux displays archival documents, religious vestments, Catholic religious objects from the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as paintings.

The Musée du Pays Welche is located in a former rectory with six rooms. It contains a distillery, a woodworking workshop, a cheese cellar and a bread oven. The museum offers a tour lasting approximately two hours.

Hiking

The Sentier de découverte is 7.5 kilometers long. It leads through the Vallon de la Taupré, descends via Tibremont and the Chapelle Saint-Thiébault, and offers views of the landscape around Fréland.

The Sentier des muletiers begins at the exit of Fréland and follows paths that were used in the 15th and 16th centuries to transport ore from the neighboring valley to Fréland, where it was smelted.
