Culture and History
Litomyšl Castle has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1999. The building is a Renaissance arcaded residence influenced by Italian architectural models. The castle preserves an 18th-century theatre with original painted decoration, stage sets and stage machinery. The brewery next to the castle is the birthplace of composer Bedřich Smetana.
