Culture and History
Valteřice was first mentioned in 1492 in a document concerning the division of the Valdštejn estate. Under this agreement, it was assigned to the Štěpanice estate district. Its religious history includes the fact that Valteřice has historically always had more Protestants than Catholics. The local Protestants predominantly belonged to the Augsburg Confession and, to a lesser extent, the Helvetic Confession.
Teaching continued at the Protestant school in Valteřice until 1910. In Hornà Branná, the Hornà Branná Château also houses the permanent historical and ethnographic exhibition “Život pod horami”. It focuses on the municipalities of Hornà Branná and Valteřice.
Landscape and Outskirts
The Sovinka stream flows through HornĂ Branná and ValteĹ™ice. KoupalištÄ› ve ValteĹ™icĂch is located on the quiet outskirts of ValteĹ™ice near a forest along the Sovinec sports and walking trail.
Cycling Route Through the Surrounding Area
The “Zámecká cesta” cycling route runs via MartinickĂ© rybnĂky, HornĂ Branná, VrchlabĂ and Vejsplachy, as well as through ValteĹ™ice, before returning to Jilemnice. The route is listed as being 30.0 km long, with an elevation gain of 550 m.
KoupalištÄ› ve ValteĹ™icĂch
The water at KoupalištÄ› ve ValteĹ™icĂch is clean and comes from mountain streams. The facilities include a beach volleyball court, which was reconstructed in 2016. Table tennis bats and badminton equipment can also be rented at KoupalištÄ›.
