Zdislava is located in a landscape with prominent geographical landmarks. Part of the town lies within the Ještěd Nature Park. To the north of Zdislava rises Velký Vápenný, a limestone mountain reaching 789 meters, while Špičák rises to 686 meters to the east.
Landscape
The two elevations clearly place Zdislava within its mountainous surroundings: Velký Vápenný lies north of the town, and Špičák to the east. This landscape setting is complemented by the Ještěd Nature Park, which includes part of Zdislava.
Culture and History
The Church of St. John the Baptist is the focal point of the town’s cultural character. Together with its surrounding wall, chapel, and gate, it is designated as a cultural monument. A unique painted wooden ceiling has been preserved inside; concerts have also been held in the church since 1997.
Other elements designated as cultural monuments include a Baroque column with a statue of the Virgin Mary near the municipal office, a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk opposite the church, a relief-decorated wayside shrine, and a reconciliation cross in Zdislava. A Marian column with an Assumpta depiction also stands on a lawn at an intersection in the northeastern part of the town.
The Zdislava archaeological site is designated as a UAN-I site of a late medieval and modern-era village settlement with a church. The U Obrázku forest chapel was a Marian pilgrimage site in Zdislava toward the end of the 18th century.
Crafts
The Papyrea family manufactory operating in Zdislava produces handmade paper and offers printing and bookbinding services. By arrangement, Papyrea also offers tours and workshops.
Transport and Cycling Routes
Zdislava is served by a railway station on the Liberec–Teplice line. Before the railway crossing, cycling route No. 3046 branches off westward toward Janovice v Podještědí. In addition, the marked interregional cycling route No. 25 runs through the cadastral territory of Zdislava.
