Nová Ves U Chrastavy: Hotels and accommodations

Nová Ves U Chrastavy is characterized by the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and the Jeřice River. The church was built in 1616–1617, while the river flows through Nová Ves and joins the Nisa in Chrastava.

Culture and history

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary contains a Renaissance baptismal font on a stone base with a Baroque wooden upper section. Archaeological finds have been documented in the archaeological find area around the church, or are expected there based on well-founded assumptions.

After the former manor house of Nová Ves was demolished following a fire in 1980, only remnants of the surrounding masonry remain.

In Nová Ves, the Stations of the Cross are built into the wall of the former cemetery. The stone wall around the former cemetery is protected as a historical monument. The stations feature late Baroque or Rococo decoration, indicating that they were probably created in the second half of the 18th century.

Nature and geographical context

Nová Ves probably developed through the gradual settlement of the area along the Jeřice River. In the immediate surroundings of Nová Ves are Kančí vrch and Ostrý, both mountains. The surrounding area also contains Brdo and Rozsocha, which are likewise mountains.

In the wider regional surroundings of Nová Ves are Czocha Castle – Zamek XIVw., the ruins of the Hagenwerder power plant, and the Chapel of the Most Holy Trinity.
