The Údolím Vošmendy educational trail runs along the boundary of the municipalities of Bozkov, Jesenný, and Roztoky u Semil. It can be walked in both directions and follows a 5.5-kilometre circular route along blue- and green-marked hiking trails. The educational trail offers exceptional views of the Ještědsko-kozákovský hřbet ridge, the Jizera Mountains, and the western Krkonoše Mountains. At the same time, it provides information about the historical mining and processing of limestone and iron ore in the valley; remnants of these activities are still visible to visitors today. When the trail was established, eleven information panels, rest areas, a climbing facility, and interactive elements for children were created.

Trails

The Palackého route also passes through Jesenný: starting in Tanvald, it runs via Jesenný and Bohuňovsko at kilometre 13 and includes a four-kilometre section between Jesenný and Podspálov. Jesenný railway station is located on the Tanvald–Železný Brod railway line.

History and Architecture

The Renaissance fortress in Jesenný was converted into an early Baroque château; the château dates from 1664. In 1715, it was extended by a château chapel dedicated to Saint John the Baptist.

In the upper part of Jesenný, on Kalvárie Hill, stands the octagonal Povýšení sv. Kříže Chapel. It was built in 1734 by Maxmilián Rudolf Lamotte von Frintrop. Six polychrome statues line a brick balustrade in front of the chapel. The grounds of Jesenný Château are freely accessible.

Water

The Jesenný quarry lake is a freshwater quarry with a maximum depth of 13 metres. Underwater, visitors can see, among other species, tench, carp and koi carp, sturgeon, eels, perch, whitefish, nase, pike, catfish, trout, silver carp, zander, crayfish, and pond mussels. Divers can also explore a steel tower structure, the wreck of a Volkswagen minibus, and a caisson.

The private Jesenný quarry is accessible only through the base; visits must always be arranged in advance. A geological excursion route in Jesenný leads to a station documenting limestone mining.
