The Plavy ski resort is located above Plavy on the northern side of Filoun Hill, below the Černá Studnice ridge.
Winter
The Plavy ski resort has a 610 m-long Poma lift, a rope lift for children and three slopes ranging from 720 m to 1,080 m in length. The ski resort offers beginners ski lessons at a ski school. The different lengths help you distinguish shorter and longer runs from one another.
Geographical Setting
Plavy lies in a valley surrounded by hills at the foot of Mikšova hora. The village is situated on the right bank of the Kamenice River and also extends along both banks of the Skalice stream. The road and railway line from Železný Brod to Tanvald–Šumburk run through the centre of Plavy.
Nature and Trails
The Palackého Trail begins in Plavy, leads through the Kamenice Valley and runs along the Kamenice River through rugged-looking landscapes; it also passes through more challenging terrain. From Plavy, the Palackého Trail leads to the ruins of Navarov Castle, dating from the 14th century. The first section of the Palackého Trail from Plavy to Navarov was created in 1912 and was 3,130 m long.
One route begins at Plavy railway station and follows a yellow hiking trail marking to the Palackého Trail. Route length, terrain and markings provide different points of reference for planning a walk.
Culture and History
At the entrance to the Palackého Trail stood the factory of J. Liebig a spol. and workers’ and employees’ houses known as “Mlýnskách”. Operations began in 1854 at the J. company’s spinning mill in Mlýnských.
The Muzeum ČSA in Plavy is a non-profit cultural and sports organisation dedicated to protecting and preserving military history monuments. “Lety na saních” includes editions from 2002 to 2005 held in Plavy, as well as an edition on 18 February 2023.
Other Activities
The marked cycling route 4251 from Zásada to Zlatá Olešnice leads directly into the centre of Plavy. Plavy hosts the ČP Kamenice rafting competition, which is listed in the national calendar in 2026 as a public R4 race. At the 2024 rafting event, the start was in Haratice Dolenec, where participants joined the Palackého Trail.
For personal comparison, different criteria can therefore be considered side by side: skiing involves the type of lift, slope lengths and the explicitly mentioned lessons for beginners; the Palackého Trail involves its route, markings, length and terrain. These differences make it easier to consider winter and trail topics separately rather than combining them into a single activity.
