From Draha, locally called Bučka, Radčice offers views of the Krkonoše Mountains and part of the Jizera Mountains. Kozákov and Suché skály can also be seen from there.

Nature and geology

The Radčice–Jirkov–Jílové geological locality includes a group of abandoned, overgrown and partially flooded quarries for roofing slate. The age of the slate-bearing rocks is estimated at 470 to 480 million years. Small ponds remained after the former quarries and often serve as natural swimming areas in summer. Within the geological locality, the Tlukačka quarry is one of the sites where trace fossils, mollusc fossils and trilobites have been found.

Hiking and excursions

The important Černostudniční hřeben hiking trail runs through Radčice. It leads from Berany at the foot of the Jizera Mountains through Radčice towards Kozákov, the highest peak of the Bohemian Paradise. Radčice is a starting point for many excursions in summer and winter.

Local history and architectural heritage

The first written mention of Radčice dates from 1543. The roofing slate extracted in the quarries of Radčice was used, among other things, for roofing historic buildings throughout Bohemia. The oldest log cabins in Radčice were arranged in a horseshoe shape.
