The ruins of Štěpanice Castle are located on a spur above the confluence of the Cedron stream and an unnamed tributary. A western perimeter wall and a bastion-like tower are well preserved from the complex.

Culture and History

A historical connection to winter sports can be found at the sawmill in Dolní Štěpanice: wooden skis were manufactured there in 1892. The Krakonošovo Museum of Motorcycles features an exhibition on the Czechoslovak Six-Day Motorcycle Competition, as well as around 50 Jawa-ČZ exhibits, focusing on competition machines.

Trails and Landscape

The starting point in Dolní Štěpanice is at the confluence of the Jizera and the Cedron. A marked trail begins at the intersection in Dolní Štěpanice and leads to Špindlerův Mlýn.

A hiking trail from Dolní Štěpanice initially passes through the Borový Forest and later follows a field path with views of Štěpanice. A green-marked hiking trail begins in Dolní Štěpanice and continues to Horní Štěpanice and Špindlerův Mlýn.

Routes

One route includes a return journey by bus from Dolní Štěpanice to Benecko. Another route connects Benecko with Dolní Štěpanice via the Kotelská viewpoint, Horní Štěpanice, the Chapel of the Virgin Mary with a spring, and Štěpanice Castle.
