Nature and Winter
The Ponikelská Cave in Poniklá comprises chambers adorned with stalactites and underground lakes; its passages are approximately 240 metres long. The mountains Strážník, Zadní Žalý, Přední Žalý and Šeřín are located in the surroundings of Poniklá.
Culture and Crafts
Rautis in Poniklá preserves and develops the traditional craft of pearl-making. The technique of blowing glass beads and making pearl Christmas ornaments was added to UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2020.
The parish church Farní kostel sv. Jakuba Staršího, apoštola is a Baroque landmark and was consecrated in 1682. A painting by the artist Nejedlý in this parish church was restored in 1996 by restorers from Litomyšl.
The Muzeum krkonošských řemesel in Poniklá displays around 700 exhibits, most of which come from Poniklá and the immediate surrounding area. On display are an agricultural exhibition and traditional methods of flax processing, washing and ironing, butter-making, shoemaking and furniture-making. Every summer, courses offered there by the Vzdělávací spolek uměleckých řemesel bring traditional skills such as basket weaving, stonemasonry and blacksmithing to life.
History and Townscape
Poniklá has dozens of preserved buildings of rural log-house architecture with richly carved gables. Krejčův statek is considered the largest farm complex in Poniklá.
