Okrouhlá is located 12 km east of Cheb on the left bank of the Jesenická Reservoir. The village stretches along the slopes surrounding the Jesenický Brook, which flows into the Jesenická Reservoir.

History and villagescape

The first written records of Okrouhlá date back to 1299, when the estate belonged to the Paulsdorfer family. At the edge of the former château park stands the memorial oak “Valdštejn Oak”. It was ceremonially named in 1910 in honour of Albrecht z Valdštejna, has a trunk circumference of 674 cm, and is considered one of the most imposing oaks in the Cheb region. In the centre of Okrouhlá, beneath the memorial oak “Valdštejnův dub”, stands the wooden sculpture “Ležícího Valdštejna”. Okrouhlá Fortress is not open to the public.

Leisure in the village

Outdoor exercise equipment for children, young people and adults has been installed in the park by the adjacent pergola. Easter, autumn and Christmas craft workshops are held regularly in Okrouhlá.
