Culture and History
The Church of Our Lady of the Snows in Velké Popovice houses a bell dating from 1498, considered the second-oldest in Central Bohemia.
Nature
The Velkopopovicko Nature Park covers 22 km² and was designated in 1993 to preserve the landscape character with its distinctive natural and aesthetic values. Its northern boundary is formed by Ringhoferova and Pivovarská streets, followed by Masarykova Street in Velké Popovice.
The nature park consists predominantly of forests, meadows, pastures, fallow land, rubble areas, wetlands, and bodies of water. The area is used for recreation and sports.
Routes
The circular route “Kapličky a zvoničky Velkopopovicka” runs through the cadastral area of Velké Popovice, mostly through the local districts. In each local district, you can stop at a chapel or bell tower. The route is 10 km long and runs mostly along paved paths.
Cycle route 0028 crosses the outskirts of Velké Popovice. The 18 km route leads from Pyšely to Dobřejovice.
Getting There
The visitor center of the Velkopopovický Kozel Brewery can be reached by train via line S9 to Strančice, followed by connecting bus 461 to Velké Popovice. The journey from Prague city center takes approximately 45 minutes.
