Navacarros combines different types of trails with historic landmarks. The cycle tour “Subida a la estación de Esquí de La Covatilla” is 35 kilometres long, includes almost 1,000 metres of elevation gain and has a moderate physical difficulty level. Another cycle tour called “Subida a La Covatilla” reaches the Candelario–Navacarros road, continues through Navacarros along the road to La Hoya and turns right onto a path after the Ermita de Navacarros.

For accommodation in Navacarros, you can compare travel dates, room categories and cancellation policies on the offer pages. Such a comparison can be made regardless of whether you plan to combine the trip with a longer cycle tour, a mountain route or a walking trail.

Mountains and Trails

The “Cuerda de El Calvitero–La Ceja” route is 15 kilometres long and classified as mountaineering. Shorter is the walking trail through Vallejera de Riofrío, La Hoya and Navacarros: the circular route is 7 kilometres long, has a low difficulty level and starts and ends in Vallejera de Riofrío. The different lengths and difficulty details provide a clear basis for comparing the documented routes by scope and character.

Nature

The “Navacarros–Parque Forestal de Monte Mario–Garganta del Oso” route is a moderately difficult 12-kilometre circular tour with an approximate duration of 3 hours and 30 minutes. In the Garganta del Oso, the Barquillo River has shaped granite rock formations, including small cascades and pools. Here, the landscape is revealed both through a specific route and through the rock formations shaped by the water.

The same regional area also includes Béjar, Candelario, La Hoya and Vallejera De Riofrío.

Culture and History

The Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción was built on the foundations of an older church that had burned down and was shared by Navacarros, Palomares, Vallejera de Riofrío and La Hoya. The church contains the “Libro de Becerro”, which records important religious events in the community from 1729 to 1889.

The Ermita de El Humilladero stands at one end of Navacarros on the former road to Ávila. The chapel contains a carved statue of a saint as well as a crucifix at whose feet Mary Magdalene kneels. At the Puente Romano, the path crosses a small branch of the Roman road that runs through the entire municipal area. The Puente Romano is located on the route connecting Navacarros with Vallejera de Riofrío.
