Aubèrt combines churches, trails and forest landscapes with individual destinations in the Val d’Aran. When choosing accommodation in Aubèrt, you can therefore take different interests for day trips into account: historic buildings in the village, hiking sections along the Camin Reiau, the Baricauba fir forest, Uelhs deth Joeu or the starting point of a mountain-biking route. The focus is thus on several clearly distinguishable options for culture, hiking, nature and cycling.

Churches and Historical Traces

Aubèrt is home to the Romanesque church of Sant Martí. Sant Martí d’Aubèrt is said to have been part of a former Augustinian convent, whose monks are also said to have lived at Santa Maria de Mijaran.

Another striking religious building is the Glèisa dera Mare de Diu deth Rosèr. It was built in the 12th century. The bell tower was added in the 16th century and has a clearly structured form: its floor plan is square, while the upper section is octagonal. For a tour of the village, the church therefore offers not only considerable age but also a precisely identifiable architectural detail.

The Glèisa dera Mare de Diu deth Rosèr also preserves a baptismal font and a Gothic processional cross. Aubèrt celebrates its main festival on the first Sunday in October. The church building, preserved furnishings and this fixed festival date provide different points of interest for travel planning that is not focused exclusively on landscape experiences.

Forest, Water and Trails

From Aubèrt, you can reach the Baricauba fir forest. From Aubèrt, the route continues through this forest to Artiga de Lin. The two locations can be viewed as successive landscape themes: the fir forest comes at the beginning of the route described, while Artiga de Lin follows as a further destination.

Uelhs deth Joeu is located nearby, a waterfall with an unusual course. Its water originates from the Aneto Glacier, re-emerges from the mountain after flowing underground for four kilometres and forms the waterfall there. Thus, alongside the forest, a geologically shaped water phenomenon is another specific natural attraction around Aubèrt.

Hiking, Return Journey and Cycling Route

The Camin Reiau reaches Aubèrt if you follow it from Vielha towards France. The restored section of the Camin Reiau that passes through Aubèrt lies within the Natura 2000 network. It is possible to return from the hike by public transport.

A drive through the landscape can also be combined with a visit to Aubèrt. A road trip through the extensive Baricauba fir forest leads to several scenic places in the Val d’Aran. If you plan to go cycling, mountain-biking route 9 in the Val d’Aran starts at Aubèrt’s recreation area. Hikers, motorists and cyclists therefore find different points of connection to the area, which are clearly distinct from one another.

More places for your regional selection: Arròs, Betlan, Casau and Escunhau.
